Thursday 23rd May 2019 saw the sixth year of the Fire Industry Golf Society charity golf day at Belton Woods near Grantham in Lincolnshire.  As in previous years, the competition was on ‘The Lakes’ course where water accompanies most holes!

And for the first time ever, two Fire Depot employees – Tom Bigwood and Greg Speed -played the course with Tom being in the winning team – well done Tom!

The event raised a fantastic £5,278 and each of the following charities as chosen by the players will receive £675 each:

Children's Burns Trust
Whizz-Kids
Alzheimer's Society
Help for Heroes
British Heart Foundation
Prostate Cancer UK
Mind
Macmillan Cancer Support

Fire Depot provided the players with Firechief branded umbrellas, which proved very popular as sunshades since the weather on the day was glorious, as well as goody bags to take away after the event.

Fire Depot also sponsored the presentation meal and Team Winner, Nearest the Pin and Captains Choice trophies  as well as paying for a professional photographer to attend the event and capture the events of the day.

Secretary of the Fire Industry Golf Society and event organiser, David Murfitt, expressed his thanks to Fire Depot and the other sponsors and supporters saying: “A massive thank you to everyone who sponsored, this means the income from the event is all donated to the chosen charities.
