The team at Fire Depot have decided to support two charities during 2019, with a fundraising target of £2,500 for each of them.

At the end of last year team members voted to support both a children’s charity and a cancer charity and the chosen charities are The Children’s Burns Trust and Cancer Research.

The Children’s Burns Trust is a national charity dedicated to providing rehabilitation support for burned and scald injured children and their families, as well as prevention and awareness campaigns for which there is little or no national funding.

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent charity dedicated to cancer research and carries out scientific research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.  The charity funds scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner, as well as providing cancer information to the public. Its ground-breaking work, funded almost entirely by the public, will ensure that millions more people survive cancer. Over the last 40 years the survival rate has doubled thanks to the great progress research has made.

Managing Director Laurie Pollard said: ‘We chose these two particular charities as they both do such worthwhile work but in very different fields.  Being a fire safety company, we felt an affiliation to the Children’s Burns Trust and we also wanted to raise money for Cancer Research as some members of the team as well as their families and friends have been affected by cancer’.

Team members will be undertaking a variety of activities throughout the year to help reach the fundraising target of £2500 for each charity, so watch this space for updates!
